Hey guy,

For the DTV visa + 180 days extension, do I need to resubmit the 500,000 THB financial documents again?

TLDR : Answer Summary
For the 180-day extension of a DTV visa, you will need to resubmit financial documents, specifically the 500,000 THB proof, but they must be updated with a current date. Various comments suggest that it's safer to prepare all required documentation again, as immigration offices have specific demands. Some users also mentioned alternatives like leaving the country briefly to obtain a new 180-day entry stamp without needing to present these documents.

Does extension and re-entry mean the same? I think extension is to extend the stay within the Thailand after 180 days. Exit before 180 day and re-entry doesn’t need to extend right? You just go out and come back again. I think DTV allows multiple entry within 5 years. Please explain if it is not true.

yes, i was one of the first that extended the dtv in thailand. back in january i did the whole process. you need all documents again, with a fresh date. everything new basically. plus you need some residency proof in most embassies. rental contract, house owner id + house book, pictures of you in front of the full house, etc.. same as people need for a retirement visa extension basically.

yes that is true… but i prefered to do the extension as it was okay and cheap and didnt take too long in Krabi. and for the next time i know exactly what i need so it will be very quick and easy.

You need all of the documents you used for the visa application, but new versions with a new date.

Or you can take a weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur, Luang Prabang or another nice city nearby and come back to get a fresh 180 day stamp without needing to present any documentation.

How come you dont have to present any documentation if you go out for a weekend trip? Wouldn’t they ask you for the same docs on the airport?

immigration at airport don't have time or training for that. And could you imagine the hassle for someone who travels a lot? My application was nearly 50 pages long. More appropriate question is why are they hassling so much those extending in country

no, because airport immigration just sees a valid stamp and lets you in, unless something seems shady about you.

I've been out and in 4 times with my DTV and the only thing I've been asked is "is this DTV?" And then the lady in the booth got excited and told her colleague it was her first time seeing it.

But if I leave before the 180 days ending. And come back some days later, they don’t asked right ?

You need all the same documents you used to apply but updated for the current date.

Some immigration offices also want to see the landlords ID or housebook too, and may humiliate you further by making you take photos in front of your property or even make you have the money in a thai bank account too
