Has anyone recently done a DTV 180 day extension? If so, what documents were you required to show at immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a DTV 180-day extension in Thailand, you essentially need to re-submit all the original documents required for your initial visa application, but updated and freshly dated. Commonly required documents include: passport bio page, copy of the DTV visa, the latest visa stamp, a recent TM30 printout, TM7 Visa Extension Form, updated bank statements (a minimum deposit of 500,000 THB needed at least one month prior), proof of residence (house rental contract), receipts for rent transfers, and any relevant documentation to support your stay, such as course enrollment for classes. However, requirements may vary by the immigration office, and in some instances, it may be less hassle to leave Thailand briefly to reset your visa.

You risk getting your visa cancelled by applying for an extension.

you basically need everything again that you put in your application but also freshly dated. so you need every document new. plus more, whatever the office requests like residency proof with housebook, pictures, etc… just border bounce and save yourself headache and time

Immigration don't want anything to do with the DTV. They have no way to verify any of the documents you show them. Hence they make it as hard as possible so you give up and bounce.

I tried to get an extension at Chaeng Wathhana. It was refused and the following additional documents were requested (Soft Power) -

Updated bank statement above 500k THB

Photo printout proof of attendance at cooking classes till now

Letter from Cooking school / govt body to Immigration Officer to extend my stay in Thailand by 6 months

Letter from Govt for affiliation of School to OPEC Thailand (This one may be hard to obtain)

I had carried the following documents originally -

Passport bio page copy

DTV Visa Copy

Latest visa stamp copy

90-day report copy

TM30 printout

TM7 Visa Extension Form

Bank Statement (500K must be deposited 1 month ahead)

House rental contract

Rent transfer receipts (Your name and Renter name should be on those)

Resume / CV

Cooking class student enrollment & payment receipt

Cooking class class appointment schedule (future)

Cooking class company registration & seal

Good info.. Did the bank statement have to be within last 7 days or on same day?

They make the process quite hard to get an extension. The IO himself suggested to simply leave and re-enter as its much easier.

Mine was 3 days old and it was okay with the officer. But every time you go you have to give the updated one, for example if an additional doc is requested.

You're essentially re-applying, so all the same stuff you had to provide at application. Much easier to just take a little vacation somewhere outside of Thailand.

Three different purposes with total different requirements and you ask to post all three:

There is 1 typo in this one, please do not get angry.

in Krabi you need all the stuff that someone on a retirement visa needs. like photos of you in your house, outside your house, whole driveway, house number.. plus rental contract. plus housebook and ID of house owner. plus drawn map of where your house is. and everything copied and also the physical passport photograph. 🤷‍♀️ and yeah, all documents freshly dated and signed. i posted those requirements about a year ago here when i did my extension 🙂

Not a big surprise for me.

well, it would have helped if they would post about the requirements in an official way so that you dont have to guess and visit the office 3 times to get a simple extension 😅 anyway, the best way is just to border bounce for 5 years. best visa ever. super low effort and never have to deal with immigration besides the airport. no real alternative for remote workers anyway.

Requirements are different depending on what office you use. Go to your local office and get their hand out. It is not recommended to get an extension the process is basically reapplying for the Visa with all updated paperwork.
