Does anyone know the answer to this? Say you been on a work visa and your 90-day reports have been done in person or online. Then your work visa is cancelled and you get approved for DTV. Does your first 90-day report on DTV still need to be done in person? Or since you've done them in person while on the work visa, can you just go straight to online reporting your first time on DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When transitioning from a work visa to a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), the first 90-day report must be done in person. This is because the reporting is based on the visa type at the time of reporting, and the DTV is activated upon re-entry into Thailand. Previous experience with reporting online while on a different visa does not affect the requirement for in-person reporting for the DTV.

seeing as you can't get DTV inside thailand, <- meaning you have to EXIT/RE-ENTER to activate a DTV visa your FIRST 90 day report will be due 89 days from the date you stamped IN to thailand (they count the day you stamp in as day 1)

Hmm... So I'm hearing most of you say it MUST be done in person. But looks like only one person here has had personal experience of ONLY doing it online. Does anyone know what the TRUE and ACCURATE answer is?

Well you will find out soon enough. It might depwnd on immogration office or type of visa. When I was on BOI I never had to do 90 in person.

The true answer is that every immigration office has its own definition of first time...

And every person in that office has a different interpretation 🤣

you can always try online and if rejected go in person. The part on the immigration website of having to do the first report in person has been removed. My only experience has been in Bangkok

I did try online, but I got email it was refused. Advantage of this methid is you have an already filled in TM47 for your visit at immigration.

DTV resets when you get you entry stamp first 90 days in person then online

Will you not be entering the country to activate your DTV? The 90 days resets so you count the 90 days from the last entry. As for in person this seems to be open up for interpretation and may depend on the Immigration Office. In Chiang Mai I have been told in a group and by my agent I will have to go in person after an overseas trip even if my last one was in person.

For the last two years I've only done my 90 day reporting online, changed from Elite in July to the DTV, Oct and Jan I did my 90 day reporting online and was approved. I will be doing my next 90 days in a couple of weeks online.

so did you get an in country extension to your DTV? If you left the country and re-entered you do your next report in person

@John *********
that’s a general statement and not always the case boy

like everyone I got my DTV out of the country and after 90 days did online and was approved. I extended in the country and my 90 days was done online.

You only need to go back in person if you get a new passport.

but you can only extend inside the country one time then you must exit and re-enter. At which point you must report in person. Personally I haven't left the country for 3 years but have just renewed my passport. My online 90 day report was rejected and I now have to go in person

@John *********
That makes sense if you renewed your passport, then you have to go in person.

I'd already been once, had all my stamps moved to my new passport and filed a new TM30

90 days reporting is not related to a type of visa.

You will be approved for DTV outside Thailand, so when you enter on DTV 90 days start counting for the first time of stay, meaning you have to report in person.

When you bounce after 180 days and get in again it will be again the first time and has to be done in person again.

Hmm.. ok. So it looks like from the timing of everything, I will never do 90-day reporting online.

unless you do in country extension, or do the first 90 day too soon.
