TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are accepted into a 5-year university program in Thailand, you will generally not need to renew your education visa every year. Universities often provide the necessary documents to help students apply for yearly extensions at the local Immigration Office, particularly if the university is a recognized institution. Most legitimate universities can assist students in obtaining annual extensions based on their degree program enrollment. However, those attending private language schools may face limitations, typically receiving only 90-day extensions.

The UK once had lots of 'Real Universities'. They were mostly just an office running the visa scam until they closed them down and deported the 'students'.

Real university? What's a fake one?

There is a BIG difference between a university that offers a degreed program (whether they're public or private) and a school that offers a language course or something.

That is the difference I was trying to point out.

but a private university is a private school?

I used the word SCHOOL not university for a reason. Private schools cannot get yearly extensions

A private university is not a real one?

as opposed to a private school here which can only get students 90 day extensions at a time. ;) Universities can get their students yearly extensions

Most real universities give their students documentation to either leave the country and get a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type ED visa from a thai consulate in a nearby country OR they provide documentation for the student to go to the immigration office and apply for a 90 day Non-ED visa inside the country.

After that you get more documentation from the school and go to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension for 1900baht based on being enrolled in a degree program. You do this every year you're studying. I know people who are on their masters here and have been on yearly extensions since they started the program 5+ years ago.

Is it a Thai (public) government university or a private university?

The documents needed are extremely minimal for a government university, making the extensions a piece of cake!

Not at all. Each university program stands on its own. There are awesome programs at some government universities and pure crap at some private ones. Conversely, the opposite is also true. One has to decide which program suits their individual needs.

My question was referring to the quality for students. I would guess that there's a higher quality of education in private universities. Am I right?

, this comment is about enrolling as a student, into a degree program. Are you interested in studying or working. If studying, it depends on your prior education.

Would you recommend a private or a state run university? My goal is to get a job teaching English in Thailand. I'm a Swedish national.
Sean *************
Absolutely. Mahidol, Chula, Thammasat, etc.

Lots of international programs in Thai universities with program content in English.

Well. Is there any government university which offers a program in bachelor of education in English? ๐Ÿ˜Š

No, the University will provide documents and help you to apply for an Extension of Stay at local Immigration Office.
