Ok here's another one (because you guys seem to know EVERYTHING!!)
I went to Laos last week and got my Non Imm Education Visa. On the application form, I wrote that I wanted a 12 month Visa (which is the length of the language course I signed up for) -but the valid from/to dates on the Visa itself are only 3 months apart.
Do I have to do a border run every 3 months for the duration of the 12month language course I signed up to (which is what got me the Visa) -OR- do I need to get another education visa every 3 months?
Thanks, Chris.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The non-immigrant education visa (ED visa) typically issued by Thai consulates in Laos is generally a 90-day single-entry visa. After your initial stamp for 90 days, you will need to obtain documentation from your school to apply for a 90-day extension at an immigration office in Thailand every three months. Border runs are not necessary if you extend your visa properly at immigration.

Neither thai consulate in Lao issue year long multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type ED visas for attending school. All you get is a 90 day single entry ED visa.
When you come in you're stamped in for 90 days and then you get documentation from your school every 90 days to go to the immigration office and apply for a 90 day extension for 1900 baht.
Christopher John Morley and you did not ask the school before you signed up? And AFAIK no 12 month courses at the moment, but I might be wrong. Suggest you study the contract you signed.
it is totally dependent on the immigration officer, nowadays in bangkok most students get only 60 days not the 90 days they are allowed. BUT it's still within the rules because it says extension can be issued for no MORE than 90 days..
