TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Thailand with a valid 60-day visa, there is no additional fee of 2000 baht at the airport. This fee applies only to those entering on a Visa on Arrival (VOA). Having an approved tourist visa means you have already covered the required fees.

There is no arrival fee getting in to Thailand. And there was no arrival fee for a very long time.

If you do apply for the 60 day visa make sure you show it to immigration on arrival or you will just get stamped in for 30 days.

Thank you, will do just that.

IF you have an approved Thai tourist visa issued by a Thai Embassy or Consulate in your passport or issued Evisa online... Then there's NO need to pay 2,000 Thai baht on arrival into Thailand.

You are confusing this with arriving VOA Visa on Arrival, which does have a 2,000 Thai baht fee.

What is your passport nation?

Do you have an approved Thai tourist visa?

Thanks James. I thought about applying for a 60-day visa rather than the 30 days on arrival. I just wanted to make sure I won't have to pay it again on arrival ๐Ÿ˜. Thanks for clearing that up. ๐Ÿ™

he asked your passport nation because if you qualify for 30 days on arrival that means you do not qualify for visa on arrival (15 days, apply at the airport and pay). Visa exempt is what 30 days on arrival is and you don't pay anything for this. But can't tell you which one you actually qualify for without knowing your passport nation.

Hi Brandon, many thanks for your comment, although I am somewhat confused by it (sorry). I have a British passport, and have travelled to Thailand before with a 60 day visa. I wasn't sure what the "recent" 2000 baht arrival fee was about, but it has been explained by others here. Cheers.

thank you for your helpful reply. Frankly I confused you with another who posted at the same time as you. Thankfully my fellow Moderator Ellie corrected/deleted my replies on your post and that of the one made by a Bulgarian passport holder.

Hope all is well with you and that you have the answer you needed.

No extra fee to enter Thailand. You already paid for a visa.
