Can I Extend My ED Visa in Thailand or Do I Need to Do a Visa Run?

Hi sorry if this question has been posted a million times but here goes: I was on an ED visa and renewed last month for the extra 30 days. So now I'm at the end of the max 3 month stint, which also marks the end of my language course. But I want to stay longer. Any way of extending under the current circumstances in Thailand or must do a visa run?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can extend their ED visa, which is about to expire after a 3-month period, or if they must do a visa run to stay longer in Thailand. Responses indicate that extending through a visa run is possible, but there are complications due to current border restrictions and specific nationality rules.

1. If you have not border bounce yet, you can get two 30 day visa exempts, each extendable by another 30 days, by crossing over land and returning. As of today, Malaysia is closed, and I'm not sure when it will re-open. You can still use the Myanmar borders though.

2. There is a tiny tiny chance you can get a single entry tourist visa in Laos, but without knowing your prior history, I'm going to say NO!

However, you may have heard that Thailand is offering an extension of stay based on not being able to travel due to the COVID-19 virus to certain countries whose nationalities issue a letter requesting they stay in Thailand for an additional 30 days because they can't fly home. The UK is *NOT* issuing this letter, and therefore you do not qualify for that extension.

My advice: Border bounce twice, it'll give you a total of 120 days

It depends:

1. What's your nationality?

2. What's your prior history in Thailand?
