Dear all, I’m wondering, I have an ED-visa for 8 months now. it gonna ends in December, will they let me back into Thailand if I do the border run? I heard that if you don’t finish a year of study, you can’t move in within two months, is that true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires whether an individual can re-enter Thailand on an ED visa after 8 months of study if they do a border run and whether there are restrictions on re-entry if they haven't completed a full year of study. Comments suggest that canceling the education extension is necessary before leaving, and caution that re-entry might involve scrutiny from immigration officers. There's a possibility of being denied entry if the individual can't demonstrate that they attended classes or learned Thai during their stay.

did you really attend the school or it was just a short way to get a long term visa? Will you be able to prove u have learnt basic thai during these 8 months? it's likely that officers at the border will ask check that to figure out if you really attended your classes....

Assuming you now have a good understanding of Thai language. You will probably be "interviewed" in Thai by the immigration officer, so make sure you've practiced those answers!

You'll need to cancel your education extension before you leave.

Whether you're allowed back in or not will depend on the immigration officer you're talking to. But most people with an Education visa in their passport are pulled out of line and asked a lot of questions. You have a high possibility of having trouble trying to enter after living in the country for 8 months and leaving and immediately returning without a long term visa. You could even possibly be denied entry.

Your best odds would be contacting a land border bounce agency to drive you to a border and make sure you can get out and back in. This is assuming you're from a visa exempt country.

thanks for your reply. Even if I do border runs through agencies, I may have problems, did I understand correctly?

the agency will ask you what's in your passport. They'll know if they can get you back into Thailand so there should be no issues.
