Hello, I am here on a visa with a work permit. My Visa ends on the 21.01. Do I need to leave before the date? I remember that they give you a stamp and you have to leave the next few days. That was 3 years ago (but there I was with the COVID Visa). I had an overstay because the day I should come to the immigration was a holiday and so I needed to leave immediately, otherwise I would have 1 week time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the expiration of their visa while holding a work permit, questioning whether they need to leave Thailand before the visa expires on January 21st. They recall a previous experience with a COVID visa and an overstay due to a holiday affecting immigration processes. Commenters clarify the distinction between being on a visa versus an extension of stay, stating that those on visas can cancel their work permit and leave before the visa expiration, while those on extensions of stay need to follow a different cancellation process.
Are you actually on a visa or an extension of stay? The process differs depending which. If you're on a visa you can just cancel your work permit and leave before the visa expires. But if you are on an extension of stay you need to cancel the work permit once you stop working and then go and cancel the extension of stay. You can do this in advance with a letter from your employer
