Hi there, I just got a new passport and was told I need to go to Samui immigration (which is apparently closed friday and monday). Do i need to get a new TM30? is there anything else I might need to have prepared with a new passport? They're not answering their phones....thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When changing your passport in Thailand, you need to visit Samui Immigration to transfer your existing visa stamps from your old passport to the new one. If you have a visa (sticker or stamp), no action is needed. However, if you are on an extension of stay, you must get the stamps transferred. A new TM30 is not required, but you should prepare a form to request the transfer, although it is unclear if the same form used in Bangkok is accepted in Samui.

Closed Monday?? Fri in lieu of Mon I think.

Different immigration offices are closed on different days for this set of holidays. Are you using Samui?

Not using. As far as I know Fri was in lieu of Monday as decreed - certainly the case on Thailand Public Hol sites.

Sadly, this is Thailand, and immigration offices are free to have special holidays 🙁 I'm going to *ASSUME* that Samui is closed on Monday.

You will need to go to Samui Immigration to transfer the existing stamps from your old passport to your new passport. IF YOU ARE ON A VISA (a physical sticker or stamp that says "visa"), you do not need to do anything. If you are on an "extension of stay", you will need to get the stamps transferred.

No.

You need a form to request the transfer. FOR BANGKOK IMMIGRATION, you can use this form:

I do not know if it's accepted in Samui.

oh I didn’t need a new TM30. Just the form from the German ambassy which I had to buy. My ambassy asked me both times applying for the new passport if I also wanted to have this form

yes! I have had two new passports since I am here (1year valid) and usually your ambassy hands out a document for the immigration saying that the visa is to overtake into the new passport
