Do i need proof of onward travel when applying for a 30-day extension for my METV? My visa was for 60 days and is valid until 10/22. I will be applying for extension in Chiang Rai. Thanks

You can apply for a 30 day extension in Chiang Rai when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp. They ADD the extension on to your current expiration date so you don't need to wait until this stamp is almost expired before you go

If you have a METV - you have a 6 month visa with a series of 60 day stays. You can get a 30 Day Extension and delay having to Exit and Reenter

I've never had to show onward travel when extending in Bangkok. But always brought it with me.

Why would not have that? You'll have to leave when the extension runs out anyway, right?

Well, you could just go a few days early. If it's denied, you'd have time to buy a ticket and go again.

What is the worst that can happen if I don’t have it? My anxiety is telling me a ban or deportation. But I can just buy a ticket and reapply, right?

I haven’t brought an onward ticket yet because I’m not yet sure where I will be flying out to, whether it’s somewhere else in the region, or back home
