TLDR : Answer Summary
The 5-year Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) primarily caters to remote workers and generally requires proof of sufficient funds rather than proof of income, with a typical requirement being a minimum of 500,000 baht in a bank account. Whether attending a martial arts course or having a medical visit in Thailand, proof of income may not be necessary if the funds requirement is met. However, specific embassies may have varying requirements, and it’s advised to check local regulations and policies.

Will the agents sort everything for you if you can show money in bank ie put you in touch with a muay thai class or whatever thanks

If you're going for the Muay Thai DTV route there's no need for an agent and proof of income. The school will be the one who will supply the required documents such as official letters and receipts which you will submit to the embassy. Just make sure you have 500K THB in your bank account.

Tip: To increase your success rate, enroll in a Muay Thai school owned by locals, as they tend to have a higher success rate compared to foreign-owned Muay Thai schools.

ok if I take a muay thai course or a medical visit I don't have to present a smart working contract right?

all you have to show is that you have at least bt500,000, or the equivalent, in a bank account anywhere in the world in your name only, and the paid study contract by a school licensed with the ministry of education. This can be a Muay Thai class, or a cooking class, schedule that you paid for, or a medical treatment program certified by a Thai doctor that will treat you.

DTV is only for people working remote, not working in Thailand.

It is a 180 day visa, valid for 5 years.

Only some Embassies need to see proof of income,

All Embassies need to see 500.000 baht bankaccount.

Need to read a lot more to be ready for applying.

For soft power you don't need proof of income but still need 500k baht or equivalent in a bank account. For workation they will most likely want to see proof of income

Need proof of funds for Dtv

of course, porcoddio. You can get an ED visa without showing off money but if you want the DTV one of the requirement is to show finances over 500k thb

@Michael *********
that is not the case. All you need to show for any of the options is that you have the equivalent of bt500,000 in a bank account in your name.

@Kool ******
not true, if you get an ED visa you don't need to show u got 500k in the bank which is just for the DTV visa

the ED visa has to be extended every 90 days, and is only valid for one year. The DTV is a five year visa giving you 180 day entry stamp everytime you enter Thailand in those five years.

which is the difference between ED visa and DTV visa?

Educational visa means you need to attend the school/course cuz the school gets raid. it's valid 90days which can be renewed up for a year. No money to show off but u obviously have to pay the school. DTV visa needs 500k in bank, it's 180days that can be extended up to a year
