What should I expect when I arrive in Thailand with a DTV visa given recent experiences at BKK airport?
Hi, just a heads up. My friend was questioned at the airport (BKK) today when he arrived.
Taken to a separate room, asked why he is in Thailand so much and what his job is etc. He has a DTV and his travel history is stays around 5 months per visit, then 1 month back home.
He has been coming and going since june 2025, and this was his 3rd entry afaik.
And before you start with the anonymous post complaints, yeah... I don't want to expose my profile in a group with a bunch of people who get upset for nothing.
Sure, he got let in. But I would not enjoy the experience myself. Now I am preparing for the same when I arrive in September.

I just received my visa yesterday. The entire process—from the initial application and submitting additional documents to the final approval and receiving the visa—took about one month.

Visa Type: DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) - Remote Worker
May 19: Submitted application and paid fees.
May 22: Received a call from the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei requesting additional documents.
May 22: Uploaded the requested documents immediately.
May 25: Status changed to "Pending Approval."
June 15: Received the approval notification via email.
(No interview was required. The waiting time was a bit long—about a month in total, or approximately 20 working days excluding weekends. I did not call or email them to follow up or urge them during the process.)
May 19: Submitted application and paid fees.
May 22: Received a call from the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taipei requesting additional documents.
May 22: Uploaded the requested documents immediately.
May 25: Status changed to "Pending Approval."

One month in Taipei is very long. Did you have to submit additional docs more than once?Andi ***********
No more walk ins , online application only. Takes around 10 business days but can be earlier depending on interview date.

Anonymous participant There are no more walk ins. All applications are online apart from interviews. Are you applying for a dependent DTV? That can be quicker than a regular initial DTV. Taipei has issued dependent DTVs within 2 days .

Anonymous participant Yes, you must be in Taipei to apply and you need to submit immigration arrival/departure certificate. Yeah they accept applications from tourists. You were a tourist 2 yrs ago when you got the DTV there?

Anonymous participant So it should be quicker then. Submit dependent application before 9am so It will start to be processed the same day. Email them also to double check the approval time.

yes we want to apply dependent dtv for the baby . .lWe got the dtv from Taipei 2 years ago .. we are currently in Thailand was wondering how can we get the dtv for the child .

Invite them for a self cooked dinner to show your need to follow cooking classes. You might get the visa before desert.
