TLDR : Answer Summary
No, you do not need to present proof of medical insurance for a Marriage Visa (Non-O Visa) in Thailand. Medical insurance is only a requirement for the Non-O-A (Long Stay) visa.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.

@Wil****
, I think you have your wires crossed some. There is only ONE visa type that requires you meet the mandatory health insurance requirements and that is if you have a Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa (that you get from your country BEFORE you come here) or an extension of stay from one.

There is no insurance requirement on a Non-O visa OR an extension based on marriage to a thai.

For what it's worth, it is best to always have insurance though, just in case something bad happens. Hospitals aren't cheap.

The requirements for the Multiple Entry Non-O Visa based on marriage is as follows:

To get this visa, you'll need the following:

1. Original Wedding Certificate (the rose border one)

2. Copy of the front an back of the wedding certificate on a single page, signed by the wife and by you.

3. Copy of the wife's ID, front and back page, signed by the wife.

4. Copy of the wife's blue book with the address and name page, signed by wife.

5. Copy of my ID passport page, signed by you

6. 2 Passport Size pictures (for the Thai visa)

7. 5,000THB for the visa fee for Savannakhet, or $200 USD for HCMC in new notes.

8 (for HCMC only). A handwritten letter from your wife, in Thailand, requesting the visa from the consulate.

Arrive at the consulate in the morning, around 8am. Fill out the visa application, put it on top of the copies of the documents, and give it to the officer behind the counter. He'll want to see the original marriage certificate, and he'll give it back to you. You'll give him the money (5,000THB for Savannakhet, $200 USD in HCMC), and you'll pick it up the next day in the afternoon at around 2pm. Don't try to talk, or explain yourself, just hand over the documents. You may be required to show proof of last name change for the Thai wife.
