TLDR : Answer Summary
The post raises a question about the need for a visa agent in obtaining a tourist visa for a friend traveling from Thailand to Australia. Most comments suggest that hiring an agent is unnecessary and that applying directly for a Visitor (subclass 600) visa is straightforward. The advice emphasizes the importance of providing proof of funds, employment, and return intent. Mistakes in the application can lead to rejection, making it crucial to follow the process carefully.

I have helped my Thai partner to apply for a few Australian visas over the years. The procedure is a little tedious, however you do not need an agent. Firstly, your friend must create an Immi account. After that, there’s the online application. She should probably apply for a VISITOR (subclass 600) visa. The process will include submitting the usual Passport scan, Thai ID, payslips, employment letter, bank statements, credit card details, etc. After submitting the online application, she will receive an e-mail with instructions to attend an authorised facility to submit biometric data (fingerprints and face/retina scan). There may also be follow up e-mails, requesting additional scanned documents. Again, the process is not difficult (especially with your help), but very tedious. Note that it is important to make no mistakes in the application. Below are a few links to help get started. Good luck.

PS - I forgot to mention, your friend should login to her Immi account frequently, to check the application status and for further information/scan requests (occasionally e-mails can get lost).

Mike Innes is spot on. Especially make no mistakes. Mistakes means rejection and then you must reapply.

Post above is correct.

Proof needed that they have something to come back for.

Proof via Pics email etc that youve known each other for a while etc.

And yes your getting ripped by that agent.

No agent needed at all. Tourist visa will.be fine as.long as she has money in bank and a job or business to return to. They are looking for proof she will.return home and that she will not be working. Basically they will approve professonal working people but not bar girls.
