TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend an STV visa in Thailand, a TM30 is typically required at most offices, although practices may vary. It's essential to confirm the specific requirements with the local immigration office prior to the extension appointment. Required documents generally include a copy of the passport, copy of TM6, a copy of the STV visa page, and several other documents proving your stay and compliance with immigration laws. If staying with family or friends, they must file the TM30 in person if the online system is not operational.

The short answer is you NEED a TM30 at most offices.

BUT (as always)

your mileage will vary and you should check with your office BEFORE you show up to extend your STV.

In order to get the TM30, and as the online system to file TM30 is down, can we just go in person to the main local police station (for instance in Koh Phangan) to do it?

@Théo *******
You'll have to ask them; on the paperwork it says you can, but I never heard any police station actually accepting it.

OK thx I’ll check it out.

Damn now we are supposed to self-quarantine on arrival, online TM30 system is down, landlord will not be present.. I already see some crazy paperwork fun coming!

You asked this same question on March 31

All the answers remain the same.

Supply the requirements for the extension and get it.

Okay - Thanks Todd. I was curious about this specific demand from the officers that someone had mentioned.

6. ASQ certificate letter stating that you've completed 14 days quarantine.

If they aren't issuing those on completion of your stay in ASQ it seems odd immigration asks for it. I'll email my hotel and see what they say. Cheers

I was wondering specifically about the TM30 this time as It wasn't clear before.
James ********
@Dahni ******
yes it will be needed. As you were supposed to have submitted prepaid proof of address for your stay in Thailand it should not be a problem to do...

unless you cancelled the bookings on entry and now have not filed a TM 30...

Good Luck

What about if you stay with friends & family? Do they have to submit a TM30 for you. What about if the online portal was down.
James ********
@Dahni ******
yes a TM 30 is required to be filed by friends and family you are staying with....file in person with them if the online down still required.

Thank you. I intend to stay in the same place for this renewal and potentially move to a different province for the last renewal. I will make a post if I find success in this process.
Joshua *******
Thanks for all the info James and Mods. Dahni Beddo How did you make out with all this?

@Joshua ******
they are not in the group any more, so they're not gonna be able to answer you :/

@Dahni ******
you can try to get a letter from your friend where you are now staying... Showing your relationship... With Thai ID card and request for Thai Immigration to approve the extension of stay for three months.

And please report back what happened...

And if you do get your STV extension...

What happened when you sought the final three months of it.

As it will then go beyond the ending date of the STV... Of September 30.

@Dahni ******
By law, the property owner has 24 business hours to submit a TM30 for foreigners. You would not be able to get a 90 day extension based on STV by staying at someone else's house.

@Benjamin *****
Thats good then because I've been staying in the same place since I arrived in the province. Just wondered why TM30 is not on your list (which I have been following since now so thanks)
James ********
@Dahni ******
be prepared to be questioned and asked for the TM 30
John **********
@Dahni ******
yes they do. If system is down then go in person. I've no idea how this might affect an stv visa though as you are meant to stay where registered
James ********
Make sure you have the correct insurance for the STV visa and its extension. Must cover all the time you will be in Thailand.
Benjamin ******
Getting an extension for an STV is difficult. From a report:

I was in Nonthaburi to extend my STV visa. Here's what the officer asked...

1. Copy of passport

2. Copy of TM6

3. Copy of STV visa page on your passport

4. TM7, use the last updated one or get it from Immigration Office. With a photo affixed.

5. STM 2. Declaration that you're aware about overstay and the penalties.

6. ASQ certificate letter stating that you've completed 14 days quarantine.

7. Some kind of proof that you indeed stayed at the ASQ, i produced my ASQ hotel receipt ( room charges )

8. Health Insurance showing coverage amount, line by line items in details of IP, OP, Covid coverage amount.

9. Rental. To state clearly rental period when to when, at where, 4 signatures either passport or Thai ID at the end of agreement ( the usual standard contract ). If the rental's address is in Bangkok, you can only extend visa in Bangkok. Rental period should cover at least 3 months more.

And sign at every page."
