Hy guys. I'm Italian and I holding a Covid visa 60 days right now so I'm allowed to stay in Thailand until 15 January 2022. When the Covid visa will be not available anymore, my plan is to apply the 1 year Education visa next. So my question is: For switch from Covid visa to Education visa, do I must to get out from Thailand and back or I will be able to apply ED visa without to leave the country? Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Italian user currently holding a Covid visa is seeking guidance on whether he can transition to an Education visa (ED visa) without departing Thailand once the Covid visa expires. Responses indicate that the ability to switch might depend on the school’s policies and paperwork, with varying opinions on the necessity of leaving the country. Uncertainties regarding the status of the Covid visa and implications on immigration processes were also mentioned.

I don't think anybody is sure right now. The Covid visa was for people who couldn't return really not so they could just stay in Thailand so it may be that is its possible to return to your country you will have to do so then travel again with the correct visa. As I say its unsure at the moment. Maybe clearer in January

I'm assuming you're talking about a language school or something similar, and not a University.

Just know that it's not a 1 year Visa, it's a Visa with multiple extensions each of which require you to get paperwork from your school and go to immigration and pay 1900₿

Have they actually made any announcement on the Covid visa ending? Or what the alternatives will be for people wanting to extend while border runs are not really viable

not been gazetted yet so still time to change, but has been extended to December 31st. After that nobody knows, but, this extension of the deadline is only 30 days this time (as opposed to the usual 60 days) so may well be coming to an end.

yea I did hear it was likely only 30 days, my 90 are up mid January so hopefully there will be some option. At least a quick trip to Cambodia might be possible but not sure how that works with a Thai pass

Al you can do is apply before 31st December see what they give you. Nothing has been sait about the length of the extension they wil be given out (to clarify) just that the define has been moved by 30 NOT the usual 2 months at a time. Hope that makes sense

it’s thailand, I don’t expect anything to make sense but thank you. I’m sure there will be a way, for a price. It’s the Thai way

Depends on the school and how willing they are to do the paperwork.
