TLDR : Answer Summary
Children aged 7 and 12 generally do not need a criminal record report for visa purposes in Thailand. It is suggested that as they grow older (around ages 16 to 18), they might need one. For this, parents should obtain a letter from their school and visit the Royal Thai Police in Siam to obtain it, which takes about two weeks.

who advised you to go to Kuala Lumpur for the visa?

Why not just go to Penang instead?

nobody advised me to go to Kuala Lumpur. I decided to go there. We have an appointment and flight tickets already.

Too young to be requested for one.. but once they grow up (~16-18) they might need it.

When they grow up, just get a letter from their school and bring them to the Royal Thai Police in Siam. It's pretty quick and easy to get.

For now don't worry, unless they really ask you for one.

But remember, it takes at least 2 weeks to get the clearance letter from the police. Hope it's within your Visa's extension date.

Hope that helps.

Just to clarify, is this done in Thailand or outside?
