Can you apply for a work permit with a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand if you own a hair salon?

Does the non immigrant o visa allow you to apply for a work permit, the reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking of setting up my girlfriend, soon to be my wife, in a hair salon and I'm not sure whether it will be classed as I'm working or not.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O visa can allow work permits depending on the specific type. For leases based on marriage or volunteering, a work permit can be obtained, but retirement visas cannot. However, working directly in a hair salon as a foreigner is prohibited regardless of visa status. Owning a minority stake in the salon is permissible, but actual work, such as hairstyling, is illegal.

you can own a minority equity stake in the hair salon (even without a visa) but to work in the hair salon, you would need a get a work permit - which would be almost impossible, regardless of which visa you have

Dont listen to stupid people , hair salons make money and people need there haircut , especially the wealthy people in thailand.

Not everybody is selling sex there. But there sure are plenty of people buying sex on here.

Must be because they cant get a girl anyother way.

Just to let you know that Thai beauty salons don’t make much money unless they are High End salons. Thai salons are a dime a dozen. But his girlfriend can make a decent living for Thailand.

i had a friend who owned one in the muang thon Thanie compound and i will tell you this , he was slammed almost every day .he would cut and his girl did the wash and dry or the hair treatments. As with any busisness , if you are exceptional at what you do ,people will come to you. You are correct, i was commenting about the pic posted above of a sex worker in her thong washung hair. Everything isnt sex in thailand. There are plenty of people who live regular lives over there.

anyone can own a buisness you dont need a work permit for that just doing actual work.

But knowing people who have done similar would advise keeping farangs name out of it as taxman loves seeing a farang involment $$$$.

You can always see a lawyer and make documents etc if there is loans involved.

Idk what you're talking about with the hair salon, but there are many different types of Non-Os. A non-O based on marriage or vollenteering can have workpermits, retirement cannot.
