Is there a way of applying for a dtv visa without returning to the uk ?
Answer summary
The consensus in the comments is that applicants for a DTV visa generally must apply from their country of citizenship or permanent residency. UK citizens without residence in another country cannot apply from anywhere other than the UK. Some comments suggest that while there are debates about applying through an agent or from a neighboring country, the official stance is that the application must be made from the home country or resident country, particularly due to requirements for police clearance certificates.

You need to submit a police clearance certificate now.

If you're a UK citizen and don't have formal residence or citizenship in another country this is getting a legalised ACRO.

You need to get a hard copy ACRO
**************************************************************

Then before the Thai MFA will accept it you need to get that legalised by the UK FCDO (or an approved Apostile service)

Takes longer and costs more than your DTV application and approval does.

Unless you have permanent residence rights in some other country the only option is to return to the UK to apply and you need to remain in the UK until the process completes

If you have an address in the uk then my understand is that you apply to the England embassy. Whether you have to be present in the uk is a grey area I think. Yes you need your police check but you these are all access digitally and a paper copy can be scanned over you would still need to outside of Thailand and using a VPN. Maybe too risky… police checks can take a number of weeks as well.
John **********
John **********
@Luke ******
you can only apply through the Thai embassy in the UK if you are physically present in the UK. In fact you have to be physically present in the jurisdiction of ANY Thai consulate to apply for any visa at that consulate
Ginger ******
Ginger ******
@John *********
if you are physically present in the UK you still apply for a DTV through the eVisa website. The application is then processed in Bangkok by an outsourcing company called VFS on behalf of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The new requirement for a police clearance certificate does mean you need to give ACRO proof of a UK address and receive a hard copy certificate sent to that address.

When DTV was announced two years ago, I ditched my retirement extension, went to the US and got a DTV. It was so easy at that time. Chat gpt helped me create my portfolio to apply for remote work using my own company.

Can it be done thru an agent. I’ve seen a shop right next to the immigration center I jomtien advertising DTV
Steve *******
Steve *******
Alan Bow the agents only tell you exactly what's on the website and then check your documents to make sure you have everything. So if you know how to read a list, there is absolutely no reason to pay an agent. It's just money for nothing.
Alan *****
Alan *****
Steve Demir no not really. They can bypass putting the 800.000 baht & the waiting of two months for the bank requirement
Gerry ********

Alan Bow for DTV it's 500,000. Try it, at your peril!

Many folks who used agents for the DTV are scared of immigration and are now paying for express/safe entry at the airport every time they enter.

GivingPersimmon1136 Yes, I thought you can leave Thailand, travel to Vietnam and apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) from there.

You do not necessarily need to return to the UK.

However, there are important conditions in not sure if that has changed but you may be correct if now different
