Can we extend our NoN-retirement visa for a short period before leaving Thailand?

Feb 1, 2025
My wife and I are dutch citizens living in Sweden. We have a NoN-retirement visum that expires 14 March 2025. We are leaving Thailand 1 April 2025. I cannot apply for a one-year extension because my pasport expires 3 Augusti 2025. And my wife cannot apply because she cannot get the necessary documents for an income certificate of the swedish embassy, due to the loss of her telephone with the identification details needed.

Do you know if we can get some kind of visa extension between 14 March and 1 April?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a visa extension in Thailand since their NoN-retirement visa expires on March 14, 2025, but they will only leave Thailand on April 1, 2025. Due to their passport expiry and difficulty obtaining required documents for an income certificate, they are considering options for an extension or short-term alternatives such as a border run.

You live in Sweden and you live in Hua Hin, nice, but where are you?

a New Dutch passport takes 4 weeks, so YOU have time enough to apply for a new passport and a new 1 year Extension of Stay before 1 april.

Your wife can apply for an Extension of Stay based on being your dependent and that has NONE financial requirements the same day you apply for your 1 year Extension of Stay.

Perhaps the best is to take a border trip both.We live in Hua Hin. The nearest place would probably be Ranong, Myanmar?

Then we need to apply for short-time visa to Myanmar and back to Thailand?

If you're going to bounce you need to do it soon because you need a passport to have 6 months validity to get IN to Burma

please don't support Myanmar government in any way. You could take an overnight train to Malaysia and back - beautiful views. No visa needed šŸ¤—

Nope

Lloyd Turner you can get your 1 year extension, then get it transferred to your new passport at no extra cost, your wife can apply on line for a 90 day visa, then apply for the 1 year

you can only get an extension valid until the duration of your passport, SO if the O/P applies for the year extension he'll get it until Aug 3 only

which would work for him

His wife MIGHT be able to get a "trailing spouse" extension (rather than a stand alone retirement one)

Nope, extension would only be until passport expiry. The wife could apply abroad for a new Non-O, but for now she would be easiest to border bounce.

As for your wife, all I can think of is a quick border bounce to get a 60 day exempt.

There is no short term extension available to you. You could apply for your yearly extension and that would be valid until your current passport expiry.
