I want apply for Non Imm- O which I have previously had. My last one expired March this year. Being out of the country and due to circumstances, I was unable to return to renew. Now I need to apply again, not to renew. My passport expires March 2021. I have read that one needs to have at least 18 months remaining to apply, which I do not have. In trying to contact the Australian Embassy to renew my passport, even they appear to be closed at this time. On returning to Thailand, I applied for a visa which expires 17 May I believe I can extend for 1 month. As a note, the visa I applied for says it is valid until 16th June, but immigration at BKK stamped “Used 18 MAR 2020”.

Is it possible, given the circumstances, I can apply for visa longer than 1 month, thus giving me time to renew my passport? I have all that is required; 800k can get letter from bank, own my condo etc. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa after their previous one expired in March. They are currently abroad and unable to renew their passport, which expires in March 2021. The user is unsure if they can apply for a visa longer than one month upon their return to Thailand, given their current visa that expires in May.

i think you mean you've always done your yearly extensions inside thailand and this time because it ran out while you were away you have to apply for a Non-O VISA first, then the yearly extnsion :)

You can go to the immigration office and apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa when you have at least 15 to 21 days left on your current stamp from your tourist visa.

I'd go to your immigration office and see if they offer the in country conversion from a tourist visa to a 90 day Non-O visa and if they do get the hand out that lists the documents you need to do it..

Okay, what VISA did you come IN to thailand on this last entry? Was it a single entry tourist visa? I ask that because you stamped IN on the 118 March and you got a stamp good until 17 May. <- 60 days
