A turkmenistan friend wants to come traveling in Thailand, her passport is expired since 2020 but the embassy extended until 2024 by stamping on the passport page.  

Can she still apply for thailand visa?

My passport was issued a 2 years validity extension stamped while expiration date on passport was Jan 2021 during the pandemic in Australia. Was accepted by Canadian Embassy but no experience in Thailand.

There are countries that extends the expiration date by stamping on a special page on the passport. I've extended mine like that many years ago.

Good question. Not one I’ve come across before so I can’t advise. Some countries like the US used to add pages to a passport if it was getting full (the US don’t any longer) but I’ve never heard of a stamp extending a passports validity. Perhaps if the stamp is in English they may get away with it but I suspect they’re gonna have issues.

I would think having her ask the Thai embassy she needs to apply for a visa from would be the best place to ask. I doubt anyone here can answer this question.
