TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend is inquiring about the possibility of extending his tourist visa, which expires at the end of January 2022. Responses indicate that the standard 30-day tourism extension can only be granted once, and attempting a second extension may result in a denial along with a short stay to leave the country. However, due to Covid circumstances, there might be a chance to apply for a 60-day Covid visa, but approval is not guaranteed and depends on immigration office discretion.

He can try for a 60-day Covid visa but they may deny it.

If you mean the second 30days tourism extension, the answer is No. Tourism extension is granted only once. But if you apply it for the second time, you may get 7days-to-leave-country after your application is denied.

On the other hand, if you mean the extension based on being unable to travel due to Covid, your friend has a chance to apply before 25 Jan. But whether the extension would be granted and if so how many days is between your friend and the immigration office he/she would deal with.
