Can my friend on a single entry Tourist Visa in Thailand apply for a COVID extension after a normal extension?

A friend of mine arrived on a single entry Tourist Visa on the 18th of December last year. As I understand it, he'll be able to get a 45 day extension before his stamp expires later this month. That would take him to the beginning of April. The thing is, he'd like to stay 2-3 months longer if possible. Would he be eligible for a Covid extension even though he's only been in Thailand since December 2020? If not, are there any other alternatives for him?

I'd appreciate any insights into this matter. Thank you😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend entered Thailand on a single entry Tourist Visa on December 18, 2020, initially allowing a stay of 60 days. He can obtain a 30-day regular extension for 1900 baht. After that, he may qualify for a COVID-19 extension before March 30, 2021, allowing him an additional 60 days.

nope that's not how it works sorry :(

IF they entered on a single entry tourist visa they get stamped in for 60 days, AND there is no 45 day extension :( there is a 30 day 'regular' extension for 1900baht.

MOST offices are making people get the 30 day 'regular' extension before they allow new entry people to get the covid extension AND at this time the order allowing covid extensions runs out March 30th.

He should go get his regular 30 day extension AND then before the 30th of March he should go apply for the covid 60 day extension.

That he wants to stay 2-3 months after that does not mean at this time there IS a way for him to do it.

Do what I suggested, get the 30 days, then the 60 day covid extension. That's 3 months PLUS the 60 days he got when he stamped in so 5 months in all.

Btw, you wouldn't happen to know what kind of documents are required atm by Samui Immigration for a Covid extension?
