Hi. I'm asking for a friend. He entered on the 7th of August. After his 45 days (20/09) can he change to Covid extension? Thanks for your advice.

Answer summary

A friend who entered Thailand on August 7th can apply for a Covid extension after their 45-day stay expires on September 20th. However, they first need to obtain a 30-day extension of stay based on tourism, making them eligible to subsequently apply for a 60-day extension due to COVID-19. It is important to note that this 60-day Covid extension will only be available until September 27.

For most immigration offices, he will need to get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism before being able to apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

The last day they are selling the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is September 27

hi Ben, to clarify, do you believe people staying in Thailand during Covid the past year will be able to get another 2 month ext after Sep 27?

I absolutely do not feel comfortable guessing. I have seen a reports of people being verbally rejected for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Like I said, "MOST Immigration offices". There's 70+ immigration offices, and there's alway going to be exceptions.
