TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat plans to retire in Thailand and inquires if a Thai marina can be used as an address for the retirement "O" visa. Responses indicate that using a marina address is possible and that some have successfully navigated visa requirements with it. Additionally, it was mentioned that an income certificate from the Australian embassy might not be necessary, while others suggested contacting an agent for assistance with the visa process.

far out, a Brother in arms. I did 7 deployments starting in 1990 last in 2006 to the Gulf. Do you know where in Thailand you'd like to be? We'll be looking at Khanom, nice and quiet 🤫. Already did Phuket.... way too crazy there these days 🤪.

Wow, that's epic mate. Bloody hell that's some deployments. The plan is to travel to the Golf of Thailand and go clockwise as I will be leaving from Langkawi, First thing is to sort out the Visa so I can stay for more than 90 days. I have been to Phuket many times. I need to see more of Thailand so I'm in no rush to put down roots. Somewhere relaxing, yes Phuket is bloody crazy 🤪 If you want add me to Facebook and that way we can keep in touch, it's always great to meet like minded sailors and Im always looking for crew members.

An Agent can ‘cook up’ an address for you cost around 2,000bht.

In order to use monthly income for a visa or extension in Thailand you need a income certificate from your embassy.

Unfortunately the Australian embassy will not issue one.

You will need to use 800k for the first year and transfer 65k min every month for a year to prove income.

You will need to have 800k baht in a Thai bank account for your first extension but can use the income for subsequent ones as long as you transfer at least 65k baht to a Thai account every single month without fail and it shows as an international transfer. The address shouldn’t be a problem.
