First post on the site and I have not read all the posts so forgive if this has been covered multiple times .

Single entry tourist visa can be extended 30 days , on day of arrival or any days within the time span of the visit . You do not need to wait til the final few days

So do an extension at your convenience at a time that suits you . Just flew in yesterday , just done my extension , 88 days not having to worry about anything visa related .

TLDR : Answer Summary
A single entry tourist visa in Thailand can be extended for an additional 30 days, and the extension can be done at any point during the stay, not necessarily just before the visa expires. This flexibility allows travelers to manage their time without worrying about visa issues.

I have never heard that and in Bangkok it's usually when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. That means a visa exempt entry you can do as soon as you arrive but a tourist visa you'd hafta wait 2 weeks to do.

Good to know though..

, wow, up here if you hold a license from your country you just do the 4 aptitude tests; depth perception, color blindness, reaction time, peripheral vision and watch a movie.

But we're strayin' far afield from thai visa stuff so I'll leave it at that.

Glad you got the extension thanx for the update, enjoy your 88 days (y)

Think that’s probably worth a separate post . Down here without an international licence you have to do the entire test . But with international licence you just do the three reaction tests and your out of there

, Good to know, thanx for the update.

BTW: you can rent a house, get a thai 2 year temp d/l on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp too if you want to. You don't even need an international driver's permit, just a valid license from your country.

I’m in Phuket but accept there might be regional differences. But can confirm totally kosher here . Renting a house here and have Thai driving licence and bank account on tourist visa.

If coming here from the uk make sure you get an international drivers licence from the post office for £5.50 . MAKE SURE
