TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the acceptability of using a joint bank account for their OA visa application in Thailand, having been previously accepted under a retirement visa. Comments suggest contacting the Thai Consulate to clarify if joint accounts are permitted for visa applications.

, you need to be contacting the thai consulate in London and asking them if you can use a joint bank account. That you used a joint account inside the country to get yearly extensions from the immigration office does not mean you can use one outside the country to get a visa from a thai consulate.

They are the ones you need to ask the question to.

Good Luck

As you are both from the UK, you will need to ask the Thai Consulate/Embassy if they would accept joint bank accounts or incomes for your O-A?

I hope so. Thanks

It will probably be the same as a joint bank account in Thailand that it will count 50% for each of you.

please keep us posted on outcome. Others may benefit from your experience. Hopefully the UK Thai Embassy / Consulate finds a way to allow the joint bank accounts.

Yes because we have uk banks in both names jointly. In thailand we opened separate bank accounts.

Your problem appears the ability to file either three months or six months of supporting bank or income documents with each of your applications.

that is the problem. You can ask. But inside Thailand you each would need a separate bank account to get the Extension of Stay as you are not married. Thailand does not recognize common law marriages.

...What is your home country for each of you?

...Did you have an "Extension of Stay" for retirement issued in Thailand by Thai Immigration ?

...And did they accept with only one 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account?

.. Or did you use the "Affidavit of Income" notarized statement from your Embassy issued in Bangkok?

...Did you EACH use a separate Affidavit to obtain the Extension if Stay each year in Thailand.

...And now that your Embassy no longer issues the income affidavit you are seeking the O-A from your home country?

Just trying to better understand your situation.

then I think you will need to each apply for the O-A individually.

I do not know if "joint bank accounts" will be accepted by UK Thai Embassy/Consulate. Ask them.
