Do I need to show funds in my bank account for my husband's visa application if we have a joint account?

Hi everyone, I am planning on applying for a DTV workcation for myself and 2 dependent DTV for my children. My husband will apply for a Non-0 volunteer visa (he needs a work permit). We are applying through Chicago. My husband and I have a joint bank account. We currently have the 500,000 baht in our account. I am able to move over additional money to cover my dependents. I am wondering if I also need to move over enough money to cover my husband. Even though he won't be on a DVT, my concern is they will want me to have the money in there since it is a joint account. Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a DTV workcation visa for themselves and their children while their husband applies for a Non-O volunteer visa. They inquire about whether they need to transfer enough funds to their joint account to also cover their husband's financial requirements. Responses indicate that funds must be in the sole account of each applicant, suggesting that joint accounts will not satisfy the visa application's financial requirements.

The money has to in the sole account for each applicant. No dfference from embassy to embassy.

How did you open the accounts? On what kind of visa.

Joint accounts are not accepted.

that is incorrect and/or embassy dependant. We've gotten all our Thai visas using a joint account. In each case we were told that we needed enough money for each applicant. i.e. 500K THB/Person so the balance had to be 1M THB.

check with the embassy you'll apply through as they are all a little different.

we used the Thai embassy online in Hoi An Vietnam & only asked for bank statements from our joint account showing 500k for both of us in our one joint account. But like you say each embassy is different.

yes they are they excepted mine & my husbands UK joint account for the DTV Paperwork & we then transferred the balance into our Thai bank account & all was ok. Don’t need money to cover your husband it’s 500,000 for both people I am my husbands dependent on DTV & we were only asked for 1x 500,000 bht for the both of us … the money does need to stay in the account at this amount though.

not accepted everywhere. There are many embassies that don't accept joint accounts.

ok well we were fine we didn’t go through an embassy as embassy’s no longer excepting DTV applications all moved online last April for Uk citizens.

it is all online now, but each Thai embassy in that country processes the applications for their region. They aren't all centrally processes at one location for the whole world. You might not be aware of that detail, as many aren't.
