TLDR : Answer Summary
The Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) is primarily intended for individuals who work remotely for an employer outside of Thailand while residing in Thailand. The current discussion highlights that the DTV may not accommodate a frequent back-and-forth work schedule between the UAE and Thailand. It can be suggested to explore Soft Power options for temporary stays, as users have shared successful experiences with such routes, especially for those working intermittently in different locations.

The DTV is not designed for that. The remote work option is designed to allow people to work from inside Thailand remotely for an entity outside of Thailand. You could of course apply using one of the Soft Power options

John, I applied this way and got it.its all in the wording of the documents.

There has been other oil rig workers and miners that have also gotten the visa this way.

To put it simply I take some meetings online while in Thailand therefore ima “remote worker”

This individual could do the same.

Im not saying you are wrong or that I am correct. But it’s Thailand it’s up to the individual and the circumstances on how they interpret the visa

You being a Thailand veteran would know that 👌

what would stop him is the fact he doesn't work remotely from inside Thailand. Soft Power is the only way he will get a DTV

I got it through the soft power route and work 4 weeks on/off in Africa. No issues at all.

Remote worker is generally understood and accepted as a digital nomad, working online from a remote location. Not necessarily working some labor or desk job etc in country x.
