When applying for first DTV, i want to still work as an employee for a year before retiring.

But also, as im interested in the thai language, i want to go to school each morning for formal lessons.

But i think I have to apply stating remote worker as my main reason for DTV.

Anyone recommend how I should proceed?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) but wishes to continue working as an employee while also attending Thai language classes. Suggestions indicate that it's fine to study while on a DTV, which is primarily for remote work. The key is to prove income from a remote job, and the visa lasts for 180 days, requiring a brief exit from Thailand to renew it.

You can study Thai on any visa. If you work remotely get the DTV and just attend a school that fits your work schedule

unfortunately I had it confirmed yesterday that I can’t work for my UK company in Thailand.

As i am ready for retirement anyway, it is no big deal, my health is more important to me now.

So to continue with my passion for learning the thai language, is there a list of schools that are approved to a standard which permits a soft power option for the DTV?

There are very few reports of people successfully applying for the DTV using a language school. Most will tell you to get an ED visa if that's what you want to do. But if you are going to be retired why not just get a Non-O based on being over 50? You can still study if you wish

yes will the non O based on marriage as we originally had planned (before considering DTV)

Or are suggesting the retirement is easier to obtain?

if you are married to a Thai the financial requirements for a Non-O based on marriage are lower, plus if you decide you want to work in Thailand at some point you can get a work permit on that. The Non-O based on being over 50 doesn't allow you to hold a work permit, needs more money in the bank, but has a much simpler renewal process

no that is a work permit to work inside Thailand for a Thai company. Only the DTV and LTR Remote Work visas support working remotely from Thailand

I has the same kind of question. Ed visa for studying thaï do not allo you to work. Dtv is the best option. You will have to prive you have earned some money with your business digital remote job. This visa is for 180 days. You have to leave thaïlandais for another country even for 1 jour and come back for reinitialising your visa for another 18 » days.
