Can I do the visa transfer from old to new passport at any immigration office or does it need to be where the visa extension was issued? I did the visa extension at Changwattana but will be in Chiang Mai in a couple of weeks and the immigration office is more conveniently located there. Thanks if anybody knows the answer.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for transferring a visa from an old passport to a new one typically needs to be carried out at the immigration office where the visa extension was initially issued. However, there are indications that it might be possible to transfer the stamp at any immigration office, as noted by users who shared their experiences. It is also suggested to check with specific offices for their procedures, especially if you're planning to visit a different city.

I'm Australian Man currently in Australia, I have a O/A visa and I'm flying to phuket mid July, Canberra Thai Embassy said just take both Pass ports to enter Thailand as old one has the O/A stamp. Question is can I get a new stamp to new pass port done there in Phuket Airport .

I've always done the transfer of visa/extension to a new PP at the IO of I was registered, you can download the form, and reading the process/ requirement looks a little hard at first, but the really straightforward process or simple matters, when done, once I'd not even bother, because I was scheduled to fly out of TH, no problem

US Embassy no longer issues the letter. I received my new passport yesterday and a note was attached telling me to take it to any immigration office to have the old stamp transferred into the new.

Did Ubon immigration say you could use any immigration office? Thanks.

I am in Ubon. About 5 minutes from immigration. But they told me I could use any immigration office.

You’ll need to do the change over of stamps at whichever office issued the stamps.

Probably worth putting a shout out in the group as to what requirements CW will need to do the change. I do not know their policy.

In Phuket for example you’d need to fill out a “change passport form”, have a letter from your embassy stating you have changed passport from A to B (unless they stamp as such in the new passport). Signed copies of all used pages of the old passport and a signed copy of the data page of the new passport and the “changed passport stamp” if they do that. The change of stamps is (should be) free.

US, no longer issues the letter I have read on thai visa

Question: i have been told that they will also do it at the immigration at the international airport >

True or?

Yes.

If taking an international flight, the Immigration desk at the airport will do it

.

If no one at desk,

ask Security or someone else working in that area and they will get the person over to the desk.

Just allow time altho shouldn't take long to have it completed.

beats dealing with the hassle of immigration>

Can add stress if you get to the airport later than expected, crowded, etc.

Going to the Imm. office you know it is taken care of.

Not that I’m aware of. Of course that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. Just that I’ve not heard of such.
