the minimum for soft power is 500k baht, but some people say that is not enough to apply and that youll still need proof of income.

i wont have steady income at the time i apply but i do plan on getting remote work once i settle in. should i mention this if the embassy asks how ill sustain myself? whats the best way to go about it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The minimum bank requirement for a soft power visa in Thailand is 500,000 baht, but some applicants suggest additional proof of income may be necessary. If you don't have steady income at the time of application but plan to get remote work afterward, it's advisable to mention your intention to sustain yourself in response to any inquiries from the embassy. Experiences shared by others indicate mixed responses regarding the necessity of proving income, with some applicants approved without it, while others were asked for documentation. To strengthen your application, consider showing additional savings, proof of passive income, or having someone support you financially.

Depends on the person assessing your application. My friend and I applied in hcmc for soft power (cooking). We both stated unemployed with no income bracket. I was approved within a week without further documentation requests, where as my friend was asked for proof of income. She wrote a letter stating she recently quit her job to travel for a while, submitted her tax return showing her income for the year and then approved.

I would try my luck and put no income (as that is the truth). If you do put income, they'll ask for payslips etc. If they ask for more documentation then you can write a letter explaining your situation eg you'll return to your home country after x months to look for work then return to Thailand. I would suspect writing remote work could make them think you'll work illegally in Thailand, unless you could prove that is what you already do in your career

It’s correct, some embassies require showing your income when applying soft power.

Depending on which embassy you gonna apply to.

Possible solutions: strengthen your savings in number; or demonstrate passive income if you have; or have someone back you up in finances.

I applied as unemployed with no income. Paid 1 month Muay Thai and was given the DTV.
