Can you extend your stay immediately after cancellation of a Non-O dependency visa, and can you apply for a work visa without leaving Thailand?

I have personally never seen someone go from an extension of stay based on "piggy backing" <- being the family member or married to a foreigner who legally works here, to an extension of stay based on employment without having to leave the country (but that was pre-covid shit show).

You MIGHT, as in maybe (check with your immigration office FIRST) be able to cancel the extension based on being the family member of a foreigner THEN immediately apply for a 60 day covid extension and from that extension apply for an in country 90 day Non-B visa with documents from your employer at the immigration office.

BUT

before I even started down that road I'd take someone from your new employers office with you to the immigration office to make SURE you can pull it off.

That'd be the ONLY way I could think it'd work without you leaving the country to get the Non-B outside at a consualte.

If your employer can meet all requirements, and your local immigration office allows in-country Non-B application from Covid extension, it would be possible to do in-country process. But all depends on your new employer mostly, your local immigration office. You need to cancel your current extension and get a Covid extension to apply for new in-coutry non-B visa in case it is possible. You cannot get a work permit with your current extension or covid extension. All would start with a new non-B process.

What you need to do first is talking to your new employer.

1. You entered Thailand on a Non-O visa based as a dependent on a foreigner. This visa is almost always employment prohibited. It may not be possible to get a one year extension of stay based on employment OR a Non-B visa inside Thailand on the original Non-O visa that you received (of course, as James said, talk to your local immigration office, but it's extremely difficult).

2. You are currently on an extension of stay based on being a dependent. This extension of stay is invalid either May 22, 2021 OR the date when your cousin's contract expires, whatever one comes first. IF s/he stops working, then your extension of stay becomes invalid on that date.

3. IF your current extension of stay expires before March 30, 2021, you can apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office [MAY NOT be needed; ask your local immigration office].

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms)

4. MAYBE A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

You can apply for a 60 day COVID extension.. If all else finished
