TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information on whether they can convert their COVID visa to a Non-B visa at Phuket immigration, given that they meet all necessary requirements. A comment suggests that cooperation with an employer and obtaining a Thai work permit might facilitate the visa change process, especially if the user is planning to teach.

Ask Thai immigration and with the cooperation of your employer with Thai work permit you may be able to get the new visa..

Are you going to be teaching and need to have the Non b visa?

If your proposed employer is still telling you to do a border-cross, it seems to me they are not fully supportive given the pandemic impact on travel.

yes, sir. it's a teaching job. And it's in phuket. I'm worried if I can obtain non-b visa. I appreciate your help.

Do you have a Bachelor's degree? Has your employer said that they will assist you in getting the Thai work permit WP3 and the Non B visa for teaching with you at Thai Immigration. Be careful there is an international school in Phuket which has been caught hiring teachers with promise of a Thai work permit and visa and never deliver.

I'm a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics. I'll be teaching Maths. The employer told me that they will provide everything for me to acquire non b visa and wp. But, they are not sure if I can apply at Phuket immigration. They advised me to fly to neighboring countries to apply for non b and that's not possible this time, borders are closed. That's why before flying to phuket, I need to make sure if I can apply at the local immigration provided that I have proper documents.

You may need to apply for the work permit and Non-B where your employer belongs. Check with your employer, too.

you said you have all requirements. Does that include the documents from the school?

If not, You may need to check with your employer as well about if they can provide all necessary documents for you to apply for in-country process.

I see a trip to the Phuket Immigration office in your near future with your new employer to find out

Quite honestly, I think the best answer is:

"Nobody knows"

That'll be on the immigration officer and if the school can submit the correct papers to the immigration office.

Quite honestly, there's a low chance that you can go from a visa exempt to a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, to a Non-B visa based on employment.

I'm in Bangkok and already asked Chaengwatta immigration and it's possible. Even to other provinces, it is possible. I have many friends who did it. It's just that, I don't know in Phuket immigration. Anyway, thanks for the info. ๐Ÿ˜Š
