Quick question for those of you that have got the visa and done your first entry. Is the process at the airport as simple as presenting your passport with the dtv approval certificate on your phone? Or did you take a printed copy?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When arriving in Thailand with a DTV visa, travelers generally need to present a printed copy of the visa approval certificate at passport control, although some have successfully shown it on their phone. It is recommended to have a printed copy to avoid any issues.
Yes essentially. Some have printed it out others have shown on the phone. The IO has the information on their screen anyway. Just check before you go you have the 180 day stamp
