Hi everyone. My ED visa will expire on May 7, 2021 (I'll graduate from a university). I heard from some sources that if I cancel my ED visa, I'll be able to stay for extra 30 days without doing anything. Is this correct? Do I need to ask my school to provide documents for me so that I can cancel the visa at the Immigration?

Otherwise, I believe that I'll need to check with my embassy (Vietnam) for extension? I'm not sure how the procedure goes. I appreciate your helps.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of staying in Thailand for an additional 30 days after the cancellation of their ED visa on May 7, 2021, which is set to expire upon graduation. They also question whether they need to obtain specific documents from their school for the cancellation process at Immigration and mention the need to check with their Vietnamese embassy for potential extensions.

When your current extension of stay is cancelled, you have until 11:59PM *THE SAME DAY* to leave the country or to apply for another extension of stay.

The Thai government is currently selling a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. If you want that extension, you will apply for it on May 7, 2021.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport
