Can I Return to Thailand to Work for a School Under New Visa Rules?

Hello friends!

Here’s the deal - I moved to Thailand in Jan 2020, but had to leave suddenly in late March due to my visa expiring and COVID shutting down nearby borders. I have an apartment in Thailand that I still pay for monthly.

Additionally, I’ve been working for a Thai school since May. It’s all been online, in hopes that I can come back around when school starts back up. I wasn’t able to get my work visa with them while I was in Thailand, but I do have a signed contract to work for them.

Does anyone know if I’m able to get in under the new rules? It doesn’t look like it but I’m hoping someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

I am working with the school on how to get me back, but I thought I’d try this page as well.

Thanks!!

Eventually I will travel to OZ...It could be problematic, even after borders opened, if not having Covid cover.on return.

and again I say...you will need a US $100,000 health insurance policy under current rules to enter. Not a COVID policy.

And as you are now in Thailand...suggest you stay here as we do not know what the future entry requirements will be.

Good Luck...

Thankyou Tod; lucid as always. Most online Covid policies of which I have one cover for 100,000Baht only. Are you able to provide a stand alone Covid cover for 100,000$US?

Yes Ben,On the ENTRY REQUEST posted by James and then APPLYING FOR CERTIFICATE where it asks to present the following documents..VALID health insurance there is a comma after medical treatments but I believe there needs to be a comma after Covid 19. This makes quite a difference.

Sorry to break in here..I am not trying to be pedantic but should there be a comma on 2,2 INCLUDING COVID 19,(comma) This either means TOTAL insurance worth at least 100,000USD or COVID worth 100,000USD🙃

total health insurance of US $100,000 which does include COVID medical care. NOT EXCLUDES IT DUE TO WHO DECLARED PANDEMIC...

Not a separate COVID policy.

any insurance policy you're gonna try to use to meet the requirement must cover you for a minimum of 100,000 US dollars specifically for covid-19 treatment (as in there can't be an exclusion for it in the policy)

I think that's why they list it as two things, most people don't have that kind of specific coverage on their policies and that is why people are getting the covid specific policy for the 100K USD. ...

Your school have to prepare the paperwork for the work permit and send to you (FedEx, etc). Then, you apply for Work Visa based on that work permit. Workers with valid work visa and work permit are among the few foreigners allowed to come into Thailand.
