Hi everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹ I am an ESL teacher here in Thailand, Bangkok.

I'm really confused about the restrictions on travel and the status of my current visa and would love some advice in these times of chaos and distress.

I arrived from India in Bangkok with a non b Visa ( for employment) on the 11th of March. This was supposed to be converted to a work permit by the school before the first week of June (That's until when my non b is valid.) In the light of the current situation I would really like to go back home and see it through the storm with my family and friends rather than staying alone here in Thailand. I was wondering whether I can re-enter the country with the same non b Visa once the curfew is lifted or will I have to apply for a fresh visa all over again?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an ESL teacher in Bangkok, inquired about their ability to re-enter Thailand with a Non-B visa after potentially returning home. They are concerned about the visa's validity and the required permits, especially in the context of travel restrictions. The community provided insights, emphasizing the need for a multiple-entry re-entry permit before leaving and confirming that they might re-enter as long as they return before their Non-B visa expires.

not to be mean but lets leave the b/s story out of your post so people can give you answers

you entered on a 90 day single entry Non-B and were stamped in for 90 days. At this time you did NOT get an extension on it from the immigration office <- meaning you're still on the 90 day entry.

IF you want to leave and come back you need to buy a re-entry permit at the immigration office or the airport before you fly out (1000baht single re-entry) AND you need to come BACK to thailand before that original 90 day stamp you're here on now expires.

If you can't make it back during that time you need to start the process all over with a new Non-B visa.

You can IF you can come back a few weeks ahead of the expiry date and IF the school can get you a work permit in time to extend. If either of these things don't work out, you'll need to start over with a new B visa.

ATM foreigners aren't being allowed to enter Thailand (unless they have an impossible to get medical certificate), so once you leave you might not be able to get back in for an extended period of time.

As others have mentioned, you'll need to get a Re-Entry permit before you go.

Foreigners are allowed in as long as they have all the requirements that have been announced. A friend of mine got in today.

Normally such a visa should be single entry.

In case it is not, I assume you will need to require a re-entry permit before you leave. Can usually be done either at the airport or at the immigration.

It will not be over until June. Problem solved.

Non B validity is different and Work permit is different

Just take a multiple entry on your Non B document before leaving Thailand

You can re enter on that again

makes sense but they holds good only until June. The times we are in rn who knows what the future holds. What if the situation gets worse by June? It's all so scary.

No the Visa has not yet been converted to a one year WP. It's validity stands only until June. I wanted to know if I leave now will I be able to come back with the same non b? Before it's validity expires of course.
