I’ve tried to find this on google but little success. For a retirement visa renewal do I need to go to the bank branch I opened my account at for the statement and balance or can any branch do it. The one I used is closed down now.
Answer summary
You can obtain the necessary bank statement and required letters for your retirement visa renewal at any branch of your bank, even if the branch where you originally opened your account is closed. Many users confirmed that their immigration offices accept documents from any branch and some banks, like Bangkok Bank, allow document retrieval via their app as well. However, it’s recommended to check with your specific immigration office for any particular requirements they may have regarding bank statements and letters. Additionally, if you’ve changed your residence, ensure that your bank has updated your address.

As folk have said, any branch. However, your bank should have informed you of your new "home" branch when your original one closed.

Sam Bessell I had better luck with kbank who did inform me of change.

Martin Baker yes, should. But Bangkok Bank did not inform me. I had to find out, which branch is now responsible for me.

Then registration etc. Face recognition did not work. They even suggested that I should shave my moustache.

The bank doesn't know, what customer service means.

Stephen Howell Typical I left them after they started freezing everyone’s accounts and went to another bank.

Sam Bessell I just laughed when they started freezing accounts, because finally they were clamping down on fraudulent "agent" accounts. I've been with Bangkok Bank for 16 years and always did the right thing! My account didn't miss a beat!

Sam Bessell that was a result of one Bangkok Bank branch in Pattaya that was issuing mule accounts, and working with agents that needed accounts when the client didn't have the bt800,000 for the visa extension. 180,000 accounts were closed, with the branch manager, and two staff, arrested, and still in prison. That resulted in Bangkok Bank requiring most every foreigner with an account to update their phone, and passport, details before the online app was reactivated. There was a branch in Chaeng Mai also involved, but it only involved about 1800 accounts, with just two bank staff arrests. It mostly involved agent accounts for visa extension purposes.

My bank has conveniently positioned a branch at the Bangkok immigration so even though my account was opened elsewhere, my agent goes there to get then necessary documents without any issues.

Ray Mond I do it every year with Bangkok bank, because I'm 60km from the immigration office and they have a local bank close by, in fact i also asked the local Kbank as well and they said they could if it was needed. What did you ask for?

Each Immigration office seems to have "special" requirements that can change year to year so recommend you drop in and get an updated list.

Ian Cameron That’s what I’m thinking as a mate just got told by a branch of his bank he went into that only the one he opened the account at can do it. 🤷‍♂️

Any branch should be able to get you the statement and bank letter that you need.
