TLDR : Answer Summary
The general consensus among the comments is that a bank in Thailand will not close a savings account just because a retirement visa is not renewed. Accounts are typically only closed if they have no funds or inactivity for an extended period (usually two years). Users also pointed out that a lack of activity for one year could lead to the account being locked until the account holder visits the bank to unlock it.

Also if it has no activity for 1 year it will become locked and you would need to visit the branch to unlock it.

your lucky, we've had our scb account locked, although it may be part of the new banking standards introduced a couple of years ago to negate money laundering. I read a report the other day around 10's of thousands of dormant accounts had been deactivated in the last year in Thailand as part of the laundering crackdown.
