Can you renew the retirement visa at a different immigration office from where you got your last one and what are the implications (for example do you need different paper work - especially relating to the address issue)? So if you got the last one in Bangkok a year ago but you're now in Phuket and it's up for renewal - can you just go to the Phuket immigration office with the same paperwork? Thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can renew your retirement visa at a different immigration office in Thailand, such as from Bangkok to Phuket. However, you need to ensure that Phuket is registered as your residence by filing a TM30 notice. It is recommended to visit the Phuket immigration office beforehand to obtain a list of specific documentation required for your application. Key requirements typically include proof of residence and a bank letter verifying your funds, which should be an original document, ideally dated close to your application date.

I've found that you can get the 'bank letter' (and statement if required) from any bank branch, regardless of where your account is held, for ฿100 from Kasikorn and Bangkok, though I understand that certain banks charge more.

Just be careful with the bank letter, as this has to be an original, and depending on your bank might have to be obtained from your specific branch. Some immigration offices required it to be dated no more than two days prior to the application date, which might cause a problem if coming by mail. So check this also at immigration, as you might need to make arrangements with a local branch of your bank. I'm confident it can be done, although banks love charging fees!

Sure you can obtain the extension of stay based on retirement in Phuket...

But Phuket must be on record as your residence address.

Have you filed a TM 30 address registration for Phuket?

Where do you have your 800,000 Thai baht deposited into your personal name only Thai bank account?

You will need to have proof of it...

Stop by the Phuket Immigration office and pick up a list of their requirements for the extension.

File a change of address, file a TM30 to show you live in the area where the immigration office is, GO to the immigration office and get the hand out they have that lists what documentation you need to apply at that specific office and you'll be fine applying there
