The user inquired about obtaining a visa for a 6-week stay in Thailand from late December to late January. Don't be tempted to fly without a tourist visa . . . . . . . The problem is the airline, if your return flight is outside of the first 30 days, they can ask for a one-way flight ticket out of Thailand within the first 30 days. This means added costs on top of the 1900 THB for the 30 days extension. A 60-days tourist visa is not only cheaper but also much more convenient, you won't lose half a day on the Immigration office and you don't need the onward travel proof for the airline, and you don't need a TM30 accomodation registration for the service on Immigration

the E-Visa Website lists the 60-days single entry Tourist Visa under "Tourism and Leisure Activities". Here are the requirements that need to be fulfilled:

If you enter under a visa-free arrangement, you are permitted to stay for 30 days. Should you wish to remain longer, you may apply for an extension of your stay for an additional 30 days.

You may apply for an extension in advance at the Immigration Bureau.

All you would need is a 30 visa exemption with a 7day extension if you’re from a valid country.

Myer Gold Why a 7 day extension? They are usually 30.

Ralph Tyson oh because they were only staying a couple days after 30 but maybe you gotta do the second thirty before the last 7 extension I guess my thinking was you would have another fresh 30 for another trip
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Myer Gold you can't ask for a 7-days extension. You apply for the "touristic 30-days extension" and that's what you will receive. The fee is 1900 THB. The 7-days extension in most situations is not a real extension but a grace period. It is called "application for extension denied, you have 7 days to leave the kingdom"

Myer Gold Very poor advice. Much easier and cheaper to get a single entry tourist visa to satisfy your airline and Thai Immigration

Steve Greir was just there for 5 months when it was 60days still and my extension took 5minutes so wasn’t painful and booked a bus leaving for 20$
