Can I Overstay My Non-Immigrant O Visa by Doing a Border Run?

Hi all,

I arrived in Thailand in October on 60 day tourist visa, extended 30 days so had 90 days in total. After this I then volunteered at a dog rescue centre and got a Non immigrant O volunteer visa for 90 days, from Vientiane , which expires on 4th April.

Originally my plan was to then leave to go to Bali for 2 months but I cant do this now nor do I want to as I don't know Bali and don't want to be there on my own if its locked down. Nor do I want to fly atm.

My question is: Will I be OK to overland boarder bounce somewhere to get the 30 days? Then extend for the extra 30 days.

I'm currently in Pattaya. Want to use a boarder bounce company and not do it on my own so any recommendations greatly received. I went to one company today who said Cambodia was closed and I had to go back to Laos.

Laos seems very far away right now but is it my only choice right now? Plan to go in next day or so.

Thank you so much.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether they can do a border run to extend their Non-Immigrant O volunteer visa in Thailand, which expires soon. They are considering traveling to Laos for this purpose but want to know if there are alternative options or recommendations for border bounce companies.

As Robert says. Safest option is to fly back to your home country UK

a lot of things you do not want, doing a border run for a new 30 days stay is difficult, you might be lucky if tomorrow the borders with Laos still allow you. I would say as it is still relative easy, book a ticket back home and prevent you get into trouble when this all continue and flights are not available or at high costs.

Yes.

April 4th is a VERY long time away, we don't know which borders would be operating.

Maybe. If you want to use Lao, you probably need to get a tourist visa from the Lao embassy in Bangkok, and then enter Lao.

Cambodia may be an option, as an UK citizen, you can still enter Cambodia.

But, given what's going on in the global economy, the Thai economy, and the UK economy, I think it'll be best if you return back to the UK now. This isn't the time for a vacation, sadly :(
