TLDR : Answer Summary
Expats holding a DTV visa often face challenges opening bank accounts in Thailand. Several commenters suggest starting with a residence paper, as banks require this for account creation. Many recommend going through agents, especially in Pattaya, to expedite the process, with costs ranging from 5,000 to 16,000 baht depending on nationality. It is common to face rejections from banks, and experiences vary widely across different branches and bank types. Some suggest certain banks like Bangkok Bank and Krung Thai Bank might be better options, but persistence is key.

Ive tried around 10 banks. They all say the same thing. It's a no for DTV. I don't think it's possible anymore.

Try Krung Thai Bank (KTB- light blue bank)

Obtain a residence paper first. They will want it and having one in hand improves the possibility of yes.

You want the account to be in the city you will be living in. You'll likely have to try 10-20 banks / branches as each are different. Even individuals within a branch can be different...

Or pay a couple thousand baht to an agent and have it done within a couple hours.
