Hello All ❣️❣️❣️

Is there anything wrong with going to obtain an extension on a 30 day exempt entry (US Passport) in Chiang Mai on the day it expires? I normally go early because I do not want to risk overstay but I want to confirm that overstay does not begin until the day after the expiration date. (i.e. you have the whole day to either leave the country or obtain an extension.)

Thank you in advance❣️❣️❣️

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can obtain an extension on your 30-day exempt entry in Chiang Mai on the day it expires. Overstay begins the day after the expiration date, so you have the full day to either leave the country or secure an extension. Many users confirm that going on the expiration date is acceptable, and some even mention that they have gone for extensions on the same day they arrived, provided the immigration office is open.

You can actually go the same day you land for the 30 day extension, as long as you land within the hours of the immigration office...

Although you can go right up until the expiration date on your entry stamp, there is no down side to going early.

They ADD the 30 day extension to the current expiration date.
