Do I have to wait for 7 days (or any period of time) before the expiry of my visa exempt to apply for 30 day extension or can the 1900baht 30 day extension be applied for at any time throughout the validity of the 45 day visa exemption. I'm using Chiang Mai Immigration. Thanks

Chiang Mai allows you to apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp SO in theory you can arrive, stamp in and go right to the immigration office to apply for the one 30 day extension you can get for 1900baht.

They add the extension to your expiration date so you don't lose time going early
