Is Chiangmai Immigration still open?  I have US passport, entered Thailand on March 6, stamp says April 6th and I want a 30 day.

you don't lose any days going early, they ADD the extension to your current expiration date.

FWIW, In Chiang Mai you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp <- meaning on a visa exempt entry like you have NORMALLY you could have went right from the airport to the immigration office and got an extension.

They are just telling people now to wait until closer to your expiration date.

It is open but they are telling people to show up just a few days before your actual stamp expires. SO don't go until at least thursday/friday

so then I loose some days if I show up on the 3rd I get less days for the price than I would have right? Just wondering why to show up early since it's not really in my favor to do so as far as time and money are concerned. Thank you so much for your response! Also, I plan to wear a mask etc, are there other precautions they are asking people to take?
