Good morning from Scotland uk. I'm married to a wonderful Thai lady and have been since 1990. I have a Thai bank account with the Bangkok Bank. As there is NO Thai embassy in Scotland only a consulate , so if you require a visa of any kind you must go through the Thai Embassy in London. I'm now 70 years of age and my wife is 65 . I'd be grateful if you could advise us What we would require to stay in Thailand for between 3/6 months Many thanks William Taylor

TLDR : Answer Summary
William Taylor, married to a Thai citizen, inquired about visa options for staying in Thailand for 3 to 6 months. The community suggested various options, including applying for a Non-O marriage visa which allows a 90-day entry followed by a 60-day extension for family visits. Some members recommended online applications through the Thai Embassy in London since there is no Thai embassy in Scotland, and highlighted the necessity of having the correct documentation ready for the process. Options such as quickly extending the visa via border runs to neighboring countries were also discussed.

For 3 months you don't need anything.. 60 day on arrival and 30 day extension.

I have just applied
You need to apply thru Thai embassy London
Their website requires you to download information in jpeg files . Can’t use pdf
If you’re not tech savvy get someone to help you and it’s easier on a laptop rather than phone
The website tells you what docs are required so get everything ready before you apply

So if your thai lady of 36 years has a thai passport - that parts easy. You just come in on 60 day permit , extend it by 30 days ( 1900 baht ) that gives you 3 months. If you want to do the same again , do a quick border hop and refresh in Laos or Cambodia. All easy peasy.
from past experience in ubon immigration enter either on visa exempt or 60 day visa then extend this by 30 days then get another 60 days extension for being married to a thai lady, gives you 5 months as a cost of 3.800 for the 2 extensions
not so easy regarding Cambodiabno border open. You can be stopped at the border in Laos and questioned and asked to provide reason for re-entry, finances etc.
it is called "60-days extension based on family visit". However he can only get it if their marriage is registered inside Thailand, because Immigration will ask for a freshly printed marriage registry printout from the Amphur
Just contact the Thai embassy in London online.Dont bother trying to phone as it's simply a waste of time.If your not so good doing stuff online as I wasn't! then get a friend or relative( I used my daughter) as they will get it all done alot quicker.

Is the Thai consulate still in Glasgow ? I thought it had closed ,so yes you need to go through London ..online application ,you can get tourist visa double entry which would allow you to get up to 6 months
all very well trying to communicate with Thai Embassy in London, the only one left now in the UK, no one answers the phone & no reply to any Emails I’ve sent, their a waste of time. Best go to Thailand and sort out your requirements when you get there.
The visas are obtained online now! No point trying to go back to the past! Fill out the application, pay the money and they’ll get back to you if they need further clarification. Fast and efficient service. And no, you’ll not sort out much from within Thailand without even more complications!
All Visas are now online and all UK Consulates are closed. You can get the Non-O marriage visa which gives you 90 days on entry then the visit Thai Family 60 day extension to give you up to 5 months each stay or go for the full 12 month extension of stay each year (no visa then needed for subsequent year if the extension is still valid and a re-entry permit purchased).
